Sana Minatozaki is a Japanese singer-songwriter and dancer under JYP Entertainment. She is best known as a sub vocalist of the sensational girl group TWICE. She is also a member of TWICE's Japanese subunit MISAMO.
Sana attended EXPG (Exile Professional Gym) Osaka branch, a dance and vocal studio where many Japanese idols trained, including some members of E-girls, Generations, and The Rampage, from 2009 to early 2012. She first got interested in K-pop because of the Girls' Generation's and KARA's rising popularity in Japan. In her last year of middle school, she was scouted by JYP Entertainment on the street while shopping with her friends and auditioned on April 13, 2012. In 2014, she appeared in the music video for Got7's "A" and Junho's "Feel", making her noticeable and likable to the public eye.
In 2015, Sana participated in the music survival show Sixteen, a reality television series designed to select the final members of TWICE. Out of the sixteen contestants, Sana was selected as one of the nine members. She debuted TWICE in October 2015 with the title song "Like Ooh-Ahh" from their first album "The Story Begins".
In February 2021, Sana became the first Twice member to release a single after she made a cover of "Sotsugyou", a 2020 single by Japanese band Kobukuro.
